fakies!

THEY ARE EVERYWHERE!! When you cant avoid them, join them. That's what got into me lately.

As a matter of fact, fakies (aka falsies aka fake eyelashes) have long been around since the 1960s. It's nothing new, though to the younger crowd/generation, it seemed to them like it is a GOD sent of the 21st century. But these days, gals are spolit for choice, thanks to the evolving technologies that created them: Korean made, Japan made, China made, natural hair, synthetic hair, glam look, angelic look, drama mama look, individual strands, diamond studded...

Small eyed gals can now bat their seemingly non-existence eyelids with these spider legged lashes. Men can now get to lust over those sweet or seductive eyes - a choice made at the discretion of these gals, to match whatever look they're in that day. I remembered it made a short and sweet come back during the early 90s. Back then, no one made lash glue better than Shu Ueruma, MAC etc. All we had were that precious tube that had accompanied the plain looking pair of fake lashes.

Mum used to warn us against the dangers of using fakies. That her fair share of horror experimenting with fakies in the 70s will make us stay far away from them. She said you will pull out and ultimately lose your natural lashes. And that the glue was harmful to our eyes... I also remembered lashes were only sparingly used during 1 of those makeovers that we go to. She will definitely not like to see this pic of mine...

I wondered, what spawned the comeback of the fakies. The retro fashion revolution? The quest for fake natural beauty (as seen by the eyebrow embroidery and hair extensions bubble outburst).... Lately pals and I had been talking about the invention that will spell the death of mascara and lash extensions called Latisse. Now that is what we call GOD sent.. with fakies, its still FAKE.. like how Joshua will always say.. "it doesnt look natural".. (but c'mon, its not meant to look REAL!!!)
